This Year's Meatopia Festival Looks Absolutely Smokin'

This year's Meatopia Festival looks absolutely smoky

Satisfy all your desire for umami at a festival of meat, drinks, fire and music in August.

Meatopia is basically a weekend-long outdoor barbecue. But do not expect any old supermarket sausages or packaged kebabs: These guys mean dead serious with meat ...

... See what we mean?

Here's the bottom line: Every day, 25 incredible chefs from famous restaurants like Smokestak, Pilgrim, Hawksmoor and Hicce cook their own unique creations over an open fire, right in front of you. If you like what you see, you can grab it for just a meatbuck - at the current £ 5.50 exchange rate - per dish. Each one has a starter size so you can taste a lot before the meat sweat sets in.

With your ticket, you not only gain access to some incredible dishes, but also some gaudy beats. Join in, like The Brass, Mariarchi Las Adelitas and DJ Tofu, whose stage name makes us wonder if he's maybe on the wrong festival.

It is probably self-evident that Meatopia is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans (the frequently asked questions on the website indicate that possibly only one vegetarian option is available). However, the focus is on ethical and sustainable meat, and the festival encourages meat-eaters to celebrate the entire animal. So expect a nose-to-tail kitchen that goes beyond the essentials.

Already salivate? Hurry up and book your tickets before they're all sold out (Saturday is already sold out). Prices start at £ 22.50.

Meatopia will be in the Tobacco Dock from 30th August to 1st September 2019. All images courtesy of Meatopia.
